Sycan Development Corp. Breaks Ground on New Full-Service Hotel

SPRINGFIELD, OR – March 12, 2007 – Sycan Development Corporation is breaking ground on Wednesday, March 14th for the area’s first new full-service hotel since 1982. 
The new hotel will be located in what is currently an open field directly south of the Courtyard by Marriott, and east of the Comfort Suites in Springfield.  In its planned location, the new hotel will be nestled among several other hotels under the management of InnSight Hotel Management Group, Sycan’s sister company.
The event will begin at 10am in the Courtyard by Marriott McKenzie meeting room. It will continue at the building site, weather permitting.  Among those expected to attend are Sycan President Richard Boyles, Executive Vice-President of InnSight HMG Patrick McShane, CVALCO members and numerous community officials. 

“I am really enthused about this project.” says Boyles.  “This is the first full-service hotel to be constructed in the Eugene/Springfield area in a quarter century.  That’s exciting.  I am also pleased to be working with the new Holiday Inn proto-type and our own team of interior designers. Our aim is to build and operate a hotel with its’ own particular personality and a sense of style.  We’re taking a few risks from a design perspective.  That’s even more exciting.  Finally, with 4000 square feet of meeting room space, the ability to seat up to 140 people for banquets, a well-appointed boardroom for smaller meetings and a themed restaurant, we are creating the new place to meet in Springfield and Eugene.”  

The Holiday Inn will provide about 60 new jobs to the area, and tax revenues on 153 deluxe guestrooms.  Expected date of completion is March 2008.
