COURTYARD GUESTS SURF THE WEB AT HIGH SPEED FOR FREE
Springfield, Oregon - Guests of the Courtyard by Marriott in Springfield now have a valuable tool at their fingertips–and it won't cost them a penny extra. High-speed Internet access throughout the hotel is now FREE to guests.

"Business travelers work wherever and whenever they can," says hotel General Manager Elizabeth Paitrick. "That's why we've installed high-speed Internet service by Guest-Tek in all 116 guest rooms, the meeting room, and the lobby. Now, our guests can enjoy fast, reliable connections from anywhere in the hotel—at no additional cost."

Courtyard has brought in an additional T-1 high-capacity line for the Internet traffic. "Basically, we've doubled Courtyard's transmission capacity, and have dedicated it entirely to Internet access," Paitrick says, "and because we have installed cable, rather than using wireless access, our connections are secure for guests conducting important business online." Paitrick adds that easy plug-and-play access to the system means guests won't be wasting time with configuration changes or software downloads to send email, surf the web, or access a Virtual Private Network back at the home office.

Most hotels don't offer high-speed Internet access in every guest room, and those that do usually charge an additional fee. "We want traveling professionals to remember that Courtyard is a hotel that was designed by business travelers," Paitrick says. "To stay productive, they need to stay connected, and we're taking those needs seriously by allowing them to do that for no extra charge."

Another local Exeter Hospitality hotel is also now offering free Internet access - the Residence Inn at the north edge of the Ferry Street Bridge. "Our guests are more and more technically savvy," says Exeter's Executive Vice-President Patrick McShane. "We intend to be on the leading edge of this trend in the area."
